I know I am very late in posting my New Year's resolutions, but, in my defense, getting my posts out on time is NOT one of my resolutions. So this year I wanted to keep it simple so that I might actually have a chance at completing my goals. My first resolution is to limit my exaggerations. Now for those who know me or my family (The Thompsons), you may have noticed that exaggerations are just a part of who we are. You get a group of Thompsons together and stories just blow up. This year I plan on limiting how much I exaggerate, and by limit I mean I want to not exaggerate at all. Easier said than done with how much I am prone to naturally exaggerate. My second goal and one that should be easier to accomplish is to not kill plants. Now of the two goals that I set for myself the second should be far easier, but alas, 1 day into January and I killed my first plant.
For Christmas my sister gave me an avocado tree (I think she felt pity that my seed still isn't growing). Although if she saw my earlier post she would have been more wary of giving me anything resembling a plant. New Year's eve I put a crate too close to the table where the plant was set, and over night our bunny jumped up from the crate and destroyed the plant. Above is the remnants of what might have been a great avocado tree.
For those who are wondering how my seed is doing, here it is, rotting away.
My sister also gave me a lemon tree. The bunny got to all the lower branches and destroyed them, but luckily this tree was taller than the 1 1/2 ft the avocado tree had been.
This picture is just a small side note. I think that having a green thumb may skip a generation. My mother and my mother-in-law are both excellent with plants. I posted earlier about my 1$ Christmas tree. Well, I loved it so much that I went out and bought Ali her own plant (distiguished with the "A"). I let her do it all by herself, and she floods the thing constantly and she (according to me) planted the seeds too shallow. And yet her plant is thriving! Where did she get that skill. To be fair to me, her plant is not a christmas tree, hers is some type of flower, and maybe they are easier to grow. That is my story and I am sticking to it!

Vacation
Nick has had the last 2 weeks off, and it has been great! We have done lots of fun things!
We went bowling, this was lots of fun since Ali is finally old enough to make it down the alley about 3/4 of the time.
We went down to San Diego to visit Abuelita. At the outlets they have a small train that Ali loved.
At the outlets they also had tons of the little coin operated cars and rides. My girls don't care about the coins, they just want to play on them. I told Kat to get out because it was time to move on. That is her classic dirty look. I hate it when they learn things from me.
We went to the SD zoo, it was a beautiful day; one of those days that makes me glad I don't live in Boston anymore.
At the zoo they have sky trams that are fun, and high, but Ali was brave.
We couldn't ride together so we spent most of the time taking pictures of each other.
A nice trip to the Natural History museum was so much fun. Kat LOVED this polar bear.
Once Ali realized Kat loved the bear she had to get in on the action too.
We also had a nice trip to seaport village in San Diego. I love the sun!
And last, Ali woke up early this morning and played while we slept. She got into the hair bow box, and now she looks "beautiful." It was so cute I had to add this.
