I apologize for my daughter's interference. She does not seem to share the same camera shyness that Ali used to suffer.

Ali can Read!

This week one of my friends was talking about how nice it is now that her daughter can read. Her daughter is only 6 months older than Ali, and she knows how to read. I figured MY Ali is WAY smarter than her daughter. (I am not competitive at all!) So I decided to start teaching Ali to read. I have been teaching her letters and their sounds for a long time, so she knows her sounds and letters, but I have never made the attempt to actually teach her to read. On Wednesday I spent about 4 hours reading with her (not in one sitting) and now she is on her way to reading.

This is the second book she can read all by herself. There are a few words that trip her up, but all in all, for 2 days of reading it isn't too bad. Also, I didn't put the whole video of her reading it because it would have been way too long (in case you are trying to follow the story she is reading). Also, pardon the terrible sound, they decided to start the construction outside just as I started taping.

Birthday trip

Tuesday was my birthday, and since Nick had a golden weekend this weekend, we decided to go down to San Diego to celebrate. We went down after nick got home from call on Friday and on Saturday we went to the Wild Animal Park. The girls loved it! For my birthday Nick got me a flip video camera, so here is its debut.

The petting zoo was really fun. I have never been to a petting zoo where the only animals were deer, but Kat loved it.

Ali just loved to go in all the tunnels and caves that they had there. But later she admitted that she liked the giraffes.
